In Leipzig the city administration has found a creative way to reforest its streets. It is called ‘Baumstarke Stadt’. They offer citizens to plant a tree in public parks, on streets, in squares and in urban cemeteries to honour their friends and loved ones in celebration of birthdays, anniversaries, new births, or any special occasion.
The donation amounts 250 € for an oak stele, provided with a sign on which the tree name and the personal dedication text are engraved. In addition, citizens receive an attractively designed certificate with the dedication text, the site plan and the description of the tree. And the amazing feeling of leaving a mark for their loved ones forever in the city!
Many reasons speak for a gift of a tree. Planting a tree is an act of direct benefit to all.
It is a growing, far-reaching symbol of hope for long life, love and friendship. Urban dwellers can watch its growth and prosperity and enjoy it!
